As I watched the video of the hanging of Saddam Hussein I couldn't help but feel an abstract sense of revulsion. A kind of removal from reality. Yes, I have a litany of crimes against humanity in my library that this brutal tyrant imposed on his own men, women and children. I also recalled one of Saddam's favorite "sports" which was to envite family and friends to a soccer field to watch his enemies being devoured alive by a pack of dogs. I have seen his enemies thrown from the tops of buildings, scenes of mass graves. Satan will certainly welcome this evil being into the abyss of eternal Hell and Damnation. I had to force myself watch and hear the brutal beheadings of new correspondent Danny Pearl and Nick Berg, although not at the hands of Saddam Hussein, but carried out by Muslim men of Hussein's ilk. The almost inhuman screams of Nick Berg will forever be etched in my mind. Horrible. I took no joy or any sense of satisfaction - or the overused term "closure" - by watching Saddam's hanging cell-phone video.
